The FLAX Staff Sample Sale: What We Couldn’t Leave Behind

The FLAX Staff Sample Sale: What We Couldn’t Leave Behind

At the close of every season, there’s one FLAX tradition we all look forward to: the staff sample sale. After months of showing, styling, and talking through every collection, we finally get our chance to bring home the pieces we’ve been eyeing, and trust me, we’ve been keeping mental wish lists all season long.

Some pieces are instant “yes” items. Tried and true staples we know we’ll live in. Others are color experiments or styles we didn’t expect to fall in love with until we tried them on. And without fail, a few pieces show up in the office in multiples, confirming just how hard it is to resist great linen.

The Hoodie We All Had to Have
Let’s start with a clear front-runner: the Urban Hoodie. This one had more than a few of us rushing to grab our size. It’s already become a regular workday staple, so much so that it’s not unusual to walk into the office and see it on two (or three) of us at once. Slate, White, and Seaglass were the runaway favorites, though my daughter chose Magnolia and hasn’t taken hers off since.

The Cinched Skirt: Urban Comfort, FLAX Style
Also from the Urban collection, the Cinched Skirt went home with more than a few of us. The combo of White and Java seemed to be the most popular, so don’t be surprised if you see a little staff “twinning” this season. It’s comfy, a little edgy, and just easy to wear.

UnderFLAX: Perfect Timing, Perfect Gift
Since our sale took place with Mother’s Day around the corner, the UnderFLAX collection made a strong showing. A few of us scooped up the Hooded Wrapper Robes as gifts for moms, while others (myself included) couldn’t resist the Box’d Downs for ourselves. And the little boxer style, the Box’d Up? Several came home with me not just for myself, but a few at the request of my daughter, my son, and his girlfriend - apparently it’s the universal favorite amongst the teenage crowd as well.

Chicago Goes de Soleil
Our Chicago team gravitated toward the de Soleil collection, picking up Flax-Full Dresses and Sleeveless Shirts that they’ll be styling all summer long. The light textures and modern accents are perfect for city summer days and they wasted no time making sure those pieces came home with them.

The Prune Blazer Everyone Was Eyeing
The Kate’s Blazer in Prune was one of those pieces everyone had their eye on. It ended up going home with Helen from our Shop FLAX team, and we’re all slightly jealous. It's sleek, structured, and the color is just deep and cool enough to work across seasons.

Mary's Neutrals and My Color Play
True to form, Mary stayed loyal to her signature neutrals, collecting a Bias Back Shirt, Chelsea Top, and Modern Flood in White and Natural. As for me? I went for a little bit of everything. I grabbed Seamly Pants in Koi (which I plan to wear with a White Cute Cardigan), and a Peplum Tunic in Dark Teal that came with me to a field hockey tournament, conveniently matching Carlysle’s team colors. But the piece I’m most excited to wear? The Harmony Jacket in Sand Stripe. I love the relaxed kimono feel over a tank and jeans. It's the kind of piece that pulls an outfit together without trying too hard.

Some of us stuck with our signature colors and familiar shapes, while others used the sale as an excuse to try something completely new. That’s the beauty of linen season, it always inspires a little bit of wardrobe refresh. And as we move into warmer weather, the FLAX team is officially stocked, styled, and ready to rock our new favorites.

We’d love to know, what piece are you living in this season?
