Vintage Favorites, Reimagined

Vintage Favorites, Reimagined
There’s a certain feeling I get every time we revisit de Soleil — a lightness, a sense of play, and a reminder that FLAX has always known how to have fun. This collection brings me right back to the spirit of 90s FLAX: the effortless charm of ginghams, the simplicity of stripes, and the easy silhouettes that defined an era.

From the start, de Soleil was designed around playful yarn-dyed ginghams and stripes — patterns that invite movement and joy. But we also knew these silhouettes needed to live beyond pattern alone. That’s why the collection is intentionally anchored in lightweight black and white linen as well. Black and white offer balance, versatility, and longevity, allowing the more expressive pieces to shine while giving you trusted options you can return to again and again.

Layered with Mineral, Barley, and Java, de Soleil blends vintage charm with modern ease. It’s playful without being fleeting, nostalgic without feeling stuck in the past — a collection that gives you permission to have fun while staying grounded in the pieces you rely on most. And there’s more to come.

The Color Story: Mineral, Barley, and Java

Mineral
Soft, calming, and quietly luminous, Mineral feels like sea glass shaped slowly by time. Its gentle green cast brings balance to the group and pairs effortlessly with black, white, stripes, and ginghams.

Barley
Warm, sandy, and sun-washed, Barley channels the softness of summer light. It’s neutral without being plain, grounding without feeling heavy — an easy companion to both patterns and solids.

Java
Rich and earthy with a warm undertone, Java adds depth and calm. It anchors de Soleil with a grounded presence that plays beautifully with lighter colors and brings balance to the collection.

Apricot
(Coming in April)
Soft and peachy, Apricot brings a gentle warmth— light, sun-washed, and full of ease. It  adds a playful freshness that signals the heart of spring, extending the collection with a soft glow.

Silhouettes With Retro Charm and Modern Wearability

This collection celebrates shape and movement — easy silhouettes with vintage roots and thoughtful updates that make them feel right for today.

The Pintuck Tank is a retro favorite, with a banded hem and gentle tucks along the bodice that add shape and a touch of nostalgia.

The full Bias Tee is a new style we’re especially excited about. Cut on the diagonal, it drapes naturally and creates shape without extra volume — simple, flattering, and quietly special.

The Picnic Shirt is a beloved blast from the past, perfect for mixing ginghams, stripes, and solids. It’s one of those pieces that instantly feels familiar.

The Rippling Jacket features a high-low hemline that moves beautifully and works as both a blouse and a light jacket, especially when paired with the coordinating patterns in the collection.

The Pedal Skirt is playful and mix-friendly, echoing the jacket’s blended stripe-and-gingham story and inviting a little pattern play.

The Airy Flood offers a relaxed flood fit with a small slit at the hem for movement and ease — light, comfortable, and made for warm days.

The Cropped Flood works as a capri-length option or the perfect true Flood for shorter frames, offering flexibility without sacrificing style.

The Gathered Back Dress is sleeveless with patch pockets and soft gathers in the back, creating a breezy silhouette that feels shapely and effortless all at once.

Why de Soleil Endures

There’s a warmth to de Soleil — familiar fabrics, cheerful pattern play, and silhouettes that invite movement. It’s easy. It’s nostalgic. And it integrates effortlessly with nearly every corner of the FLAX wardrobe.

For me, de Soleil captures the playful heart of linen dressing — lighter, brighter, and ready for sunshine, just the way FLAX has always been.
